I recently had a Zaptec charger installed for my Polestar, and Polestar recommended MJ Wallace as the installation company. I’m really glad they did.
The whole process was exceptional from start to finish. It began with Qvanta, who organised each step clearly and kept everything straightforward. The portal made it easy to see exactly where we were in the process and to communicate directly with the installer, Mike.
I had expected a long wait for installation due to it being a Polestar-recommended service, but from initial contact to completion it was only a matter of days. The turnaround was genuinely impressive.
I wasn’t home during the installation, but my wife was, and she said Mike completed the job in around two hours. The finish is very neat and tidy, with all cabling installed cleanly and professionally.
When I got home, I had a small issue connecting the charger to the app. I messaged Mike at around 9pm, fully expecting a reply the next day. Instead, he rang me that evening to sort it out. That level of customer service really stood out. Many people would have left it until the morning, but he took the time to resolve it there and then.

Over one week last November, Mike and his team installed a 20-panel, 9.4 kW PV system in 3 strings across both faces of our property's south and north facing roofs plus the south facing garage roof. These feed a 10kW inverter, 10.36kWh battery and a 7kW EV charger installed in the detached garage with a power outage feed from the battery back to the property. I dug the 6m trench to the garage and laid the ducting that Mike supplied – though they could have arranged this work as well. The Solarskirt surround to the black Aiko panels blends them into the roof very effectively resulting in compliments from neighbours. Although the north facing panels only operate at 40% efficiency, their inclusion dropped the payback period by 6 years for a modest increase in the installation cost.
It’s a decade now since I’ve started using Mike’s services and the job was executed in the usual well planned, efficient and tidy manner with high quality materials. The result is an installation whose appearance breeds confidence in its execution and is living up to performance expectations. Mike’s knowledge and advice during the planning, installation and commissioning phases was, as usual, first class. His team were prompt, friendly, courteous and low maintenance throughout - though hot drinks & biscuits are appreciated.

Top service - had this company to install solar panels, battery storage and an EV charger. From start to finish they were great, the installation is quality, the price was not the cheapest but its not always about price, the service we received was excellent and that is what we wanted. No deposits were taken, we paid when the job was finished.
You can tell Mike has a passion for this industry and genuinely cares about his work. The team obviously work together alot as there was a genuine sense of synergy throughout the installation.

As subcontractor to Heatseal Insulation Ltd, Mike was responsible for all the electrical works associated with the installation of an Enphase solar panel array/storage battery system and an Ohme car charging point at our house. He spent two and a quarter days on the project, and his colleague John worked with him for one of those days. Throughout, we found him to be extremely courteous and approachable. He was very well equipped with a wide range of high quality tools, and his work was of the highest calibre. As might be expected on an installation such as this, there were some challenges along the way, but Mike’s attitude was such that we experienced no increase in stress levels – he just dealt with each and every challenge in a professional manner.
Throughout the project, Mike kept us informed of progress and communicated appropriately with ourselves and with everyone involved.

I have used M J WALLACE on four occasions in the last 12 months. The jobs were installation of solar battery (Tesla Powerwall3), integration of additional solar panels to my existing solar panel array, planning and installation of new electrical sockets in my garage using Dado Trunking, and the installation of a new radial power circuit in the garden feeding double sockets and switched 1KW infrared patio heaters.
Each of these installations have been to a very high standard, neatly laid out, and positioned as required by me. I was present throughout each of the installations and Mike and his team responded quickly to my requests for minor alterations to positioning of equipment and the track of the trunking or conduit being used. I have already engaged with Mike for follow-on work to be conducted later this year (2025), which will be replacement of the MCB and carrying out an EICR.
Mike and his team conducted themselves extremely professionally. They were polite and respectful of my property at all times. They were personable and easy to engage with, answering my queries about the installations with patience and good humour, and even suggesting improvements that had not crossed my mind.
Mike was very quick to respond to communications I sent to him. Arrangements and timing for the works were mutually agreed upon and the Team were always punctual. Pricing was competative.
Overall, I give 5 stars to M J WALLACE for all aspects of the work and for conduct of the team, and highly recommend them.

When there's something a little out of the ordinary Mike Wallace stands out from all the rest. We required at least 4 hours of backup power to support our server room to cover the increasing possibility of mains power outages. We sought 3 quotations and received 3 very different figures. Reviews are funny things, aren’t they? - you read them in the hope that you’ll get a better understanding of what a business is all about, whether they’re worth your hard earned monies, or whether they’re just, well, pants. So, when it comes to M J Wallace, what can I tell you? Well, for one, they’re NOT pants (they do wear them though), and they are absolutely worth the monies - without question.
About eighteen months ago (well that won’t mean anything, will it… erm, never mind), we opted for our first ever EV, and, because it drinks electrons, and not dead dinosaurs, we needed a tame sparky who’d fit the rathe swanky charger that my lovely wife had chosen. Enter Mike + his band of Electricity Wranglers - they fitted the charger, sorted all of the dumb questions (you know, like ‘is there an ‘on’ button?’), and were on their way. It was bliss!
Then, we needed an Electron Wizard to pop out to our childcare business - you guessed it, M J Awesome were called, and boom (poor choice of the words… there was no actual boom - promise), they had our heaters, erm, well, heating again!
Since then, we’ve started a small campaign to include Mike + his merry band of Electricity Warriors (there’s no accounting for John’s resting b*tch face… he’s really super funny, so rest assured that he’s not going to try to beat you in a staring contest… or hurt you :-), to help us with our recent house renovation. They checked everything over before we touched even the carpet… we’re old fashioned, the wife and I, we like to make sure our house isn’t going to try to kill any of our lovely tradespeople - thankfully, things were all good to proceed, so it was new consumer unit, sockets, lights… even some of those mega cool smart sockets (got to love ‘em).
Not to be done there, we had these masters of the electron equip our downstairs with underfloor heating… not once, but twice! (The flooring company dropped a ‘man part’, but thankfully M J Brilliant were able to get the newly fitted heating pulled up and swapped just in the nick of time)… speaking of Nick… when everything went a bit “Pete Tong” with our renovation, Mike took the time out of his truly crazy schedule to put us in touch with the single best contractor we’ve ever met - that’s the service you can expect from these guys.
Oh! And if you’re a four legged customer, well, you’ll be beyond pleased with these Maestros of the ol’ Electricity, as they’re up for a game of catch, will rub your tummy, and not gag when your human opens a can of questionable ‘food’… legends!
You simply need to stop your search now, these guys are who you’ve been looking for… unless you were looking for a plumber, in which case… erm, don’t search for electricians?

Mike and his team installed a PV system with batteries in our property. From the initial design stages right through to getting the app set up for us upon completion, the process was smooth and we were kept well informed along the way. Couldn't recommend enough, such a high standard of workmanship and a fantastic bunch of lads.

We have solar PV panels with battery storage and car charger all an installed by MJ Wallace. Mike designed and installed our system to meet our own needs. His advice was spot on. The install by Mike and his reliable trust worthy and respectful left us with no mess and we don’t have any visual wiring, just as we wanted. The system is already starting to pay for itself. We can’t recommend Mike and his team enough.

Mike promptly gave me a good price for solar panel installation, estimating installation realistically on basis of availability of components. In fact, he installed panels and battery well ahead of schedule, having tailored the system to our specific requirements - and saving some money on the way. Mike and his team were great to have around the house and found ways to minimise disruption while they got on with their work. I was pleased to have them back to replace our kitchen lighting which they fitted in during the week before Christmas.

Fantastic service one again from Mike and his team. Responded so quickly to the initial enquiry. Attended my home and provided written quote on the same day. Gave guidance on where the charger should be fitted and also provided options as to the look and colour. On the day, attended when expected and work was carried out to a very high standard with no delay. Very happy and will continue to use them again in the future for all electrical work.
